What is activated carbon foam filter media?

Activated carbon foam is an open-cell polyurethane carrier containing powdered activated carbon. The foam provides a porous support structure, while the activated carbon is used as the gas-phase adsorption medium. It is used in air purifier, ventilation, fume and odor-control filter components.

This flexible foam product is not the same as a rigid honeycomb activated carbon block. If you are comparing flexible roll media, ACF felt and carbon foam, see our activated carbon media selection guide.

How to select PPI and thickness

PPI means pores per inch and is used to describe the pore density of the foam. The factory catalog lists 20, 30 and 35 PPI, with thicknesses from 3 to 100 mm.

PPI describes the foam structure, not a filtration efficiency class or a guaranteed odor-removal performance. When comparing specifications, check the media thickness and airflow conditions alongside the pore density.

Check the available installation space, cut dimensions, airflow conditions, target odor or VOC, and any flame-retardant requirement. Final specifications are confirmed for the selected model.

Buyer questions

Activated Carbon Foam FAQ

Short answers based on the current factory catalog and confirmed product structure.

Which PPI and sheet sizes are available?

The catalog lists 20, 30 and 35 PPI. Standard sheet sizes are 1000 × 2000 mm or 1200 × 2000 mm, and the listed thickness range is 3–100 mm.

Can the foam be supplied as cut components?

Yes. The available format includes foam sheets and custom-cut pads. Please provide the cut dimensions, thickness, quantity and installation drawing when available.

Is it used for particle filtration?

This product is primarily presented as an activated carbon adsorption medium for odor and gas-phase filtration components. If the incoming air also contains dust or particles, the complete filter design may require a separate particulate pre-filter.

What should I send for product selection?

Send the PPI, thickness, dimensions, target odor or VOC, airflow condition, installation method and flame-retardant requirement. Any drawing or sample photo is also helpful.
