What is activated carbon fiber cloth?
Activated carbon fiber cloth is an adsorption medium made from activated carbon fibers. Its thin and flexible form allows it to be supplied as roll media or converted into sheets and shaped parts for a finished component.
Catalog-listed applications
The supplied factory catalog lists air purification, protective-product and adsorption-component uses. Suitability still depends on the target pollutant, finished-product structure and the buyer's applicable test requirements.
ACF cloth, felt and carbon nonwoven are different
ACF cloth and ACF felt are activated-carbon-fiber media, but their construction and handling are not automatically identical. Activated carbon nonwoven uses a nonwoven carrier combined with activated carbon, while sandwich nonwoven has activated carbon between supporting nonwoven layers. The names should not be used interchangeably.
For raw ACF grade selection, review the SY fiber-grade reference. Those values describe fiber grades and must not be substituted for this finished cloth series specification.
If your specification says “sandwich carbon cloth,” send its layer drawing or a sample photo. The name alone does not confirm ACF cloth. If carbon is held between nonwoven support layers, review the sandwich nonwoven product instead of treating it as this ACF cloth.
Roll, sheet and cut-part supply
Projects can be discussed in roll, sheet or cut-part formats. Conversion requirements such as dimensions, layering or lamination should be reviewed against the selected product model and the finished component.
Information needed for ACF cloth selection
A drawing, sample photo or existing material specification helps identify a suitable product. Useful project information includes:
- Required basis weight, width or cut dimensions
- Target application, pollutant and operating conditions
- Finished product and position of the ACF cloth layer
- Roll, sheet, layering, lamination or cut-part format
- Reference sample and applicable finished-product testing requirements
For rolls, send the width, length per roll and number of rolls. For sheets or cut parts, send the finished dimensions or drawing and number of pieces. State whether your specification covers the ACF cloth alone or a layered component. Share the trial quantity and expected repeat-order quantity separately.
